IT STARTED WITH
An Endless Passion for Music

Craig is the founding member of Blackjack Magic. Here is his story.
I was standing against the pinball machine in my parents’ basement in New City, NY (where I grew up), for about a month watching my brother’s band Crystal Fire try out various kids from the neighborhood to sing for the upcoming high school battle of the bands. I simply couldn’t sit back and listen any longer as no one was really filling spot and the battle was 10 days away!
I Finally mustered up the courage to try. Hey why not? I had already known the lyrics to the songs for both the covers and originals and couldn’t be any worse than the last guy, right? Let’s just say we were all kinda surprised as I killed it.
I can distinctly remember the guitar player with a tilted head saying where ya been? And so it began!
I was given a recording of an original song and asked to write the lyrics and sing the song at the battle. Along with the various other covers from AC/DC , Black Sabbath and an the original song I named “The Wizard”. It was at that moment in time when I knew I had the ability to write Lyrics.
Soon after my buddy and I took a ride to the local music store, and I picked out my first acoustic guitar, a beautiful black body Álvarez that my parents bought for my birthday. Thanks to my very supportive parents, for putting up with the long hours of loud practice from the basement. Todd showed me the open Chords and I have never looked back.
During the next few years, and while living in Atlanta, GA, I started taking lessons with an amazing guitar player who could rip Yngwie Malmsteen , Alice in Chains, Led Zeppelin and all the rest. I had the great fortune to roadie his band “Power and Grace” and guitar tech for him on occasion. I even had the opportunity to jump on stage with them In Marietta, GA at The Kings Head Pub and in Panama City, FL at Club La Vela, and cover a Red-Hot Chili Peppers song. I learned a lot about guitar playing and song writing as he was proficient and willing to teach!
After many years of practice I wrote my first song “Better Left Unsaid” (to be released on the second feature album), while living on my cousins couch in Suffern, NY. Every time I see or speak too my cousin he sings then hook as if it’s a greeting. Then I wrote a second song named “Pound for Pound” and then a third song Named “Kissed Again”, Wahoo! I was lucky enough to play “Kissed Again” for a large crowd with Billy Sheehan on the bass guitar in Nassau, Bahamas. Very cool and fun time working with him.
After moving around, I played in different bands. In New Hampshire with a college circuit band called “No Will”, and then back in NY with a band called “Present Tense”.
I then moved to Florida where I raised two beautiful children, I kept up my guitar and singing skills while jamming with other people locally for a few years.
When I decided to start back with my songwriting I wasn’t up to speed with the new digital world. What happened to getting together in a garage or a basement? As luck would have it my girlfriend surprised me with a studio set up for my birthday! Complete with everything I need to get started, but I had no Idea how to digitally record.
So I set out on a journey. My very first stop at a local music store, there I met Darryl who said he could teach me how to use the recording software. Darryl became very instrumental (pun intended) in teaching me the recording process. He was an extremely good teacher and helped me with digital recording, lead guitar and music theory as well.
THE JOURNEY never ends

create it.
In the last year and a half, I’ve embarked on a musical expedition as a guitarist. During this time, I’ve composed, structured, and am presently in the process of producing more than 15 original copyrighted tracks, with an additional 15 compositions currently in progress. This voyage has been truly incredible and personally gratifying. I invite you to join me on this voyage, to lean back and immerse yourself in these melodies. I’m confident that you’ll discover resonance in the music, connecting with its heartfelt messages. Each piece is a reflection of my own journey and life encounters, stemming straight from my emotions
